Sri ILaiyAzhwAr Vaibhavam-5

YAdhava prakasa, after completing his yatra returned back to perumal kOil.
When he found elaiyAzhvar over there, he was totally taken aback and in
total awe, he said "Oh! elaiyAzhvAr after loosing sight of you in the
HimAlayan region, we were deeply struck by sorrow assuming that something
bad has happened to you. It is very nice to see you safely back."
ElaiyAzhvar then explained the episode of, he losing his way in the thick
jungle and how with the great help of the tribal couples, he reached kanchi.
Yadhava considered this to be a miracle and once again accepted elaiyAzhvar
in his class and continued teaching the lessons to him.

Meanwhile, two Srivaishnavas from pErarulAlan sannadhi went to Srirangam.
After having the darshan of the lord Sri Ranganatha, they proceeded to
prostrate the great acharya, Sri Aalavandaar. Sri Aalavandaar enquired
about
the happenings in perumal koil for which the srivaishnavas told
incidentally, "One, Sriperumbudur elaiyAzhvar is undergoing Vedanta
lessons under the ekadandi sanyAsi, yAdhava prakAsa. During the lesson on
"satyam jnanam anantham brahma" yadhava gave a wrong meaning which
elaiyAzhvar corrected him without any fear and told him that the meaning
of that verse cannot be told without accepting the kalyana gunas of
emperuman. Yadhava released a sigh of disinterest.

Another day when yadhava prakasa was teaching lessons to elaiyAzhvar
elaiyAzhvar was gently massaging the hair of yadhava with oil. At that time
yadhava gave a misinterpretation to the verse, "thaya yathA kapyAsam
pundareeka mEva akshini" by comparing the divine eyes of the lord to that
of a posterior of a monkey. Listening to the explanation of yAdhava,
elaiyAzhvar's eyes were filled with tears of sorrow, which dropped over
the lap of yAdhava. The heat of the tears burnt yAdhava and he was taken
aback. He asked elaiyAzhvar the reason for the tears. ElaiyAzhvar
explained that the meaning of the verse as actually "the attribution of
the divine eyes of paramapurushan being similar to the freshly bloomed
lotus flower on seeing the sun-rise". When such a beautiful
interpretation exists yAdhava gave a very disheartening interpretation,
which made elaiyAzhvar shed immediate tears. The Srivaishnavas from kAnchi
told all
these in detail to Sri Aalavandaar.

Hearing all the above, aalavandaar was deeply impressed. He said, "like a
lotus bloomed in a pond, a great mahAn has bloomed in this leela
vibhuthi!". Aalavandaar wanted to see elaiyAzhvar immediately and hence
he along with his shisyas took the permission of namperumal and started
his journey towards perumal koil. On the way, aalavandaar visited
thirukOvaloor and had darshan of the mudhal Azhvars and AyanAr and then
finally reached perumal koil, which is a great place praised as,
"pureenAmapi sarvAsAm srEshtApApa hArisa:- namnAkAnchee thivikyAdhA puree
punya vivardhani".
