Sri Parthasarathi thunai Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha Srimad Vara Vara MunayE namaha Sri Vanachala mahA munayE
namaha In the previous paasuram andal awakened nappinai
piratti. But there was absolutely
no reply from the other end. Inside
both krishna and nappinai had a tug of war. Krishna wanted to run first to the call
of the gopis whereas nappinai wanted to do that first. So they held on to each other tightly
not allowing each other to respond to the call of the gopis. Now realizing that it was a mistake to
separate the divine couples andal requested them atleast to give a reply, “nappinnai kongai mEl vaiththu kidandha malarmArbA vAi thiravAi “ But now it was nappinai’s turn to close
krishna’s mouth not allowing him to even utter a word. So Andal says, “maiththadankanninAi nee vun manAlanai eththanai pOdum tuyilezha
vottAi kAn eththanai yElum pirivAttra killAyAl tattuvam andru tagavandru”
[Oh Nappinai you are not allowing your beloved to get up and you want to be with
him without any separation. But is
it right for your nature to leave us here in sorrow?] What is tattuvam and what is
tagavu? Andal condemns nappinai’s act saying that it doesn’t
match with both her svaroopa and svabhAva. Svaroopam: purushakaram
(The difference in sampradayams
shall be please noted here by readers as quoted by Sri Sadagopan in his
mail) SvabhAva: krupai “lakshmee purushakAratvE nirdistA
paramarshibi: I mamApi cha matham heyEdat nAnyatha
lakshanam bhavEth II” says the pancharatra sastra. [The rishis established that lakshmi stands as purushakarabhoothai. Even I accept it. Sridevi doesn’t have any other lakshana other than purushakaram] “tattuvamandru” implies nappinnai piratti who is
supposed to talk in favour of the jeevatmas and create the union between
emperuman and the jeevas has now separated them thereby losing her
svaroopa. “tagavandru” implies that atleast due to her grace
she shouldn’t have allowed these gopis to stand outside and beg for the union
with krishna. Her act now is
against her svabhAva. As per ArAyirapadi, (tattuvamandru
tagavandru) “akilajaganmAtaram” endradukkum sErAdhu; “asaranyasaranyAm”
engiradhukkum sErAdhu; “deva deva divya mahisheem” endru kattinapattaththukku
sErumiththanai” [The way nappinnai piratti is acting contradicts her
renowned name “mother of all” and “savior of all those who has surrendered” It
coincides with her being only the divine consort of the supreme
lord] (To be continued) Azhvar emperumAnAr Jeeyer thiruvadigalE
