Sri thriumangai AzhwAr narrates the
richness and wealth of the divya dhEsam puLLa-pUdhamkuDi, apart from other
things, in the first thirumozhi of the fifth ten.
The third line of the second pAsuram
"paLLach cheruvil kayal
vugaLa, pazhanak kazhani adhanuL pOi,
puLLu piLLaikku irai thEADum puLLampUdham kuDi thAnEA"
5-1-2;
The fishes are abundunt in the ponds and
in the running water, in and around this dhivya dhEsam. The birds go in and look
and search for food for their kids.
A tamil scholar questioned bhaTTar. When
the fishes are abundant, why should the bird search for the food? Is it not
contradictory?
The reply " The bird is not looking food
for itself but for its little ones. The little ones cannot devour big fishes.
Due to the richness even the fishes are stout and the little ones will find it
difficult to eat. Therefore, the birds have to look for a relatively small sized
fish suitable for their kids to eat.Such is the wealth of the
divya-dhEsam".
That is bhaTTar
again.
