thAn? The greatness of bhagavan/bhagavat vishayam doesn?t just stop with preventing us from the danger of falling into the clutches of yama but at the same time it is sweet to the ears, refuge to the world, great substance for the poets and the whole essence of the Vedas. (sevikkinbamAvadhuvum
senkanmAl nAmam) ?vum?
indicates the addition of the previous paasuram?s ?fear of yama?. It not only
removes the fear of getting caught in the clutches of yama, the divine names of
the lotus-eyed emperuman (tAmarai kannan) is divine nectar to all our
ears. (puvikkum
puviadhuvE kandeer) Not
only for me, the divine names are nectarine for one and all (the whole
world) ?ArththA vishannA: sidhilAscha bheethA: kOrEshu cha vyAdhishu

II? [Those who are inflicted by the tapatrayas (adhyAtmika, Adhideivika,
Adhibhowdika) and are worried about the same, those affected by severe diseases,
just on listening to the narayana manthra are released from their worries and
attain happiness.] The first two lines of the paasuram elaborate the greatness of the nama
and then azhvar proceeds to give the greatness of the nami (one who possesses

all others there is lack of divine qualities and a number of deficiencies, so it
becomes the poet?s responsibility to fill the gap. But in the case of emperuman, he is
filled with innumerable kalyana gunas and absolutely no deficiencies making the
poet?s job easy. The only problem
being how much ever a poet sings it is only a small amount from the myriad
divine qualities (svaroopa roopa guna vibhoothi) of emperuman. ?vachasAm vAchya muththamam? [one who is

reached him not by my effort but by chance (yadrichchikam). Everything happened by his divine
unconditional grace. ?vidhivAikindindru kAppArAr? (thiru 5-1-1) ?vidhinirmidha mEthadhanvayam? (sto.Rat.51) (pArkkil)
But
I didn?t get satisfied with just attaining him. I tried to analyse and test him and
found; (maRaipporulum

glowing light on top of the Vedas.
I have by chance stepped over only a priceless
gem. (To Be
