Srimathe Ramanujaya nama:
Dear bhAgavathAs,
Humble pranams to all. All the articles on this topic were
informative and thought provoking and I would like to share some more
views so that I can get corrected if the views are corruptive.
PS:I have no choice except using the letter "I" as I haven't
undergone samAShrayaNam officially. So please read those words in
that light.

Sri TA Varadhan writes:
In rAmAyaNA, the people of ayOdhyA knew of noone
but the Lord rAma. Even they approached all the
dEVathAs *for the welfare of the Lord* {sarvAn
dEVAn namasyanthi rAmasyArththE!}.
--------
This is true and can be said the same thing about KrShNAvathAram.
People of Ayarppadi knew only KrShNa. One example is KuchEla/sudhAma.
Instead of going to KubEra,the Lord of wealth, sudhAma goes to KrShNa
and without he asking the Lord, the Lord eardicates his poverty. If
for material benefits itself sudhAma goes to KrShNa,then what can one
say about mOksha or the Ultimate union with the Lord.

Sri TCA Venkatesan writes:
So, in the case of Andal, I'd venture that She was
desperate to be with Him and had expressed her desire
to both her father Periyazhvar as well as the Lord
Himself. Yet, neither of them have responded to her in
a fashion that would assure her she would get what she
seeks. He has not shown Himself to her (we have plenty
of evidence for this throughout Nacciyar Thirumozhi)
and Periyazhvar tried to get her maried off to another
mortal, so much so she had to threaten "mAnidavarkkenRu
pEccuppadil vAzhakillEn". So, what is she to do? She
is willing to go to anyone and ask that they take her
to Him - even if she truly knows that only He can take
her to Himself. Therefore, she picks on this uncommon
ritual of worshipping Kamadeva willing to give it a
shot.

Father PeriAzhvAr realises(after the galand incidence) that ANdAL
must be one among the three consorts of the Lord and he names
her "ANdAL" and "cUdikkoduththa nAcciyAr". How can PeriAzhvAr(after
this episode) think of getting his daughter married to some "mortal"
person?
All these do not come under general category. ANdAL is surely not
ignorant in the usual sense(Britannica does not account for such
categories).
Sri Vacana BhUShaNam : 90-93
SVB 90: "ananyOpAyathvamum ananyOpEyathvamum ananyadhaivathvamum
kulaiyum padiyAna pravrththi kANA ninROmiRE".
All these three types of transgressions are observed in AzhvAr's
pAsurams. We have to remember that it is the Lord Himself who
imparted the Divine knowledge to them which in turn thrusts their
profound and boundless love for Him. Many pAsurams can be quoted for
these transgressions but they do all these out of their excessive
love for Him and they were in a state of mental imbalance when they
(nay the Lord) composed those pAsurams. It doesn't come under the
general category of ignorance as we common people undergo. The
omniscient Lord will understand their transgressions as different
facets of God-love,seeking quick union with Him and as impatient in
the intervening period again due to their insatitate longing for Him.
Let us take the example of KUraththAzhvAn. When he was in a hurry to
receive "andhamil pErinbam",he asked NamperumAL and NamperumAL also
granted. The Lord could have done the same thing wrt ANdAL and
AzhvArs but we would not have had a Universal law(NDP),that is not
shared by Samkrt vEda(it neglects some special cases). In the case of
KuraththAzhvAn it is AcArya bhakti. When EmperumAnAr asks
KUraththAzhvAn why the latter wanted to go earlier than the
former, pat comes the reply:" If I leave after you leave then you will
have to receive the me and it is not right and it should be the other
way round; So I want to go earlier so that I(sishya) can receive you
(AcArya)even in VaikuNTam"
NDP is Tamil Veda(means knowledge)and hence it can't reflect aj~nAnam.
It only reflects His grace throughout. When VadaperumkOiludaiyAn
appeared in father's dream and says that He wants only the garland
that is adorned by his daughter,He could have as well told the father
that He would marry his daughter right away. But He didn't. Why? Time
had not come. Otherwise there wouldn't have been TiruppAvai and
NAcciyAr Tirumozhi(and we poor souls would have beeen doomed forever)!
PS:ANdAL in her NAcciyAr Tirumozhi 1-1,8, addresses kAmadEva as her
master/PerumAn and request bhAgavathAs to share their views on this
wrt Sri Ramani Naidu's explanation on the same.
One Example:When HiraNyakashipu was doing atrocities, all devAs went
to Shiva and Shiva sent them to Brahma saying that it was BrahmA who
gave the boons and hence he only could find a solution. Shiva didn't
realise that the solution is only in the hands of NArAyaNa. When
devas went to brahma, brahma says only NArAyaNa can solve this
problem! All demi-gods grant boons to their whims and fancies and
it's finally Sriman NArAyaNa who has to resolve everything.
In general case,we may worship any Deity but when His grace falls on
us we have no other go(whether we like it or not!) except turn
ourselves towards Him and worship Him(maRandhum puRan thozhA mAndhar)
and we become mumukushus. Paying respects and worshipping are two
different things. BTW what is life and what is the purpose of life?
Other religions do not address this issue. The purpose is to get
liberated from this samsAric ocean. Only Sriman NArAyaNa, and not
lesser deities, has the power to grant it.
Please pardon all errors
