AchArya Hrdhayam 118 SUthram 219 Contd. It was seen that the Lord out of His grace graced AzhwAr and settled down in Him. Further, TEXT: "a...sudar adi, empirAnai vidAdhu kaNdAi nEyum nAnum engiRa sahrudhayAnubhavam samsArikkumpadi.." b.'..vEdumin enRu thyAjyOpAdhEya, dhOsha guNa parithyAga samarpaNa kramathai salampana mandhramAga upadhEsithu' Summary:a. Realising the great grant from the Lord, AzhwAr becomes ecstasic and appreciates his mind for having heeded to the Lord's beckoning, for having turned against the world's materialistic and other compelling factors, for attracting AzhwAr's into the Lord's vision even when AzhwAr wanted to drift off -considering that he is not fit enough to receive the Lord's mercy. Hence, the aim should be to do service unto His divine feet and thrive. b. Having said this, AzhwAr noticed that fellow souls in the world were revolving in the cycle of births. Hence, out of sympathy he prescribed the dos and don ts for them. He underlined the temporary aspects of the life and the eternal and the greatness of the Lord thus highlighting that these materialistic aspects of the life have to be withered off and the Lord has tobe approached /surrender to Him is the prescription. The pAsuram-s which point to these events. a. Hence, surrender unto Him. He has great auspicious qualities -ellaiyil annalam-saulabhyam- Thus AzhwAr prescribes the samsAri-s to leave off everything -as they have inherent defects- and lay themselves unto the divine feet of the Lord who has auspicious qualities by preaching them thirumandhiram.
