Sri Parthasarathi thunai

Srimathe ramanujaya Namaha

Srimad Vara Vara MunayE namaha

Sri Vanachala mahA munayE namaha

In the fourteenth paasuram, andal gets vexed with a gopi who without getting up gave all excuses.   So in frustration andal says, “vungal puzhakkadai”.  Srivaishnavas never say yours, mine etc.  According to Srivaishnavas everything belongs to emperuman and hence it is common to all.  Moreover ahamkaram and mamakaram will push us into the ocean of samsara.   “tvayyaksharasthu bhavEnmruthyu:” [‘mama’  (mine) these two letters push one into samsara (samsArahEthu)].  Azhvar says, “neer numadhu endrivai vEr mudhal mAiththu”.  How is that andal and the other gopis are differentiating and saying ‘vungal, engal’?  Shouldn’t they control their anger and talk in the appropriate manner?

The ahankara and mamakara (ego and pride) that arises due to ‘dEhAthmAbimAnam’ (considering the body itself to be the Self (athma)) has to be left by any prapannan.  But the same that arises due to bhagavat/bhAgavata sambhandam is appreciated.  Here pramanas like, “abhimAna tungan”, “amaikkavallErkku eniyavar nigar agal vAnaththE” “ellai enakkedir ellai ennakkedir ellai enakkedirE” has to be remembered.

In has been in practice by our elders (sadhAchAram) to show a slight anger due to extreme love towards the other person.  “ennudaiya pandhum kazhalum tandhu pOgu nambee” “vAsi valleer endhalooreerE ! vAzhindhE pOm neerE” “ammanO elangai kuzhAnedu mAdam ediththa pirAnAr kodumaigalE”

It is quite natural to show a false anger towards a person very close to us when they make us wait or not join us in time only due to affection and not due to hatred and similarly at that time we talk as if we have separated them from our group.  For instance periazhvar says, “tannadiyAr tiraththagaththu tAmaraiyAlAgilum siraguraikku mEl en adiyAr adhu seiyyAr” [If there happens to be a time when piratti herself says something wrong about a person then emperuman’s reply would be’My devotees never do like that’.] Here emperuman separates piratti from him in order to join hands with his devotees [bhakthavAtsalyam].  Surely piratti is the first in the list of his devotees.
