I am surprised a good lot mails have got generated on whether to partake
prasadam offerings in a temple on Ekadasi day.
A.How many of you are aware that a well known Yethi while on
mangalasasana visit to temples refuses to accept the" Teertham".Even if by
chance takes it in his hand ,drops it quietly. This happens to this very
day.The reason, the theertham used for Thiruvaradanam is not "Madi".There a
number of people like this .They have their own reasons, valid at that
according to them.
B.Most of us are a totally confused lot, neither having belief and following
what our Alwars and Poorvachariars have said.Nor we are able to follow the
Anushtanams as ordained in Vedic scriptures.
C.Even few persons who are" learned "and who have absolute faith in Alwars
Arulicheyals are in a state of community fear etc.
D.There are a number of literatures highlighting the importance of Ekadesi
Day and what a person should do on those days.{In law, we talk about special
Act and general Act. The special Act always takes precedence over general
Act.In this case the ekadesi rituals are to be a special Act and it takes
precedence over the other rituals.}.
E.Then ,each one draws a line which is convenient to him.Let me put a harsh
question. Can I say a person who is supposed to perform last rites or the
annual shradham enter the temple before this ritual and accept the
prasad etc.We can extend this to any limit and let us not do it.
F.Have a big heart and accept all these people.
