SRIMATHE RAMANUJAYA NAMAHA APPAN THIRUVADIGALE SARANAM Dear Smt. Gita,, Accept my pranamThanks for your sicerity Keep it up. You have put me in 'Dharma sankatam 'by asking 'silly questions ( from your point) ; but, inticate questions ( from Adiyen's view point). Adiyen will answer to the extent possible.
1. suffxing ' Ramanujasya dasi: It is according to custom, one becomes Srivaishnava after being initiated by one qualified Acharya. But, in the present day situation how far it is possible ? you yourself can judge.
Again our granthas particularly, Srivachanabhooshanam deals in detail the relation between Acharya and sishya. This kind of intimacy is possible when only both of them live under the same roof or near vicinity. But, how far this is possible?
Adiyen may point out one more thing. Sri Alavandar is the Acharya of our great Sri.Ramanuja.BUt, actually Sri Ramanuja was not able to meet him in person. Atleast Sri.Alavander had the opportunity of seeing SriRamanuja once and selecting him as his ward. He made arrangements to bring him in to the stream of Srivaishnavism. SriRamanuja accepted this position and treated him as his Acharyan for ever, by mind.
So, it will not be wrong to call ourselves Ramanuja dasa/dasi. At the next opportunity get your self enrolled as srivaishanav under one qualified Acharya .
2. 'Sahahtanga Namaskaram'....All the parts of our body touch the ground when we prostarate before the revered person. This type of Namaskara is of the highest order and is known as 'Dhandam samarpithal' in sampradhyic language. Thenacharya Sampradhya followers, do this only once, no repetition . In the first place, 'Dahndu'.. means a stick, when it is allowed to fall it lays flat on the ground till it is picked up. It cannot raise itself again. Further, Emperuman is waiting for the Chetana to fall at his feet and is immensely pleased. Another namaskara, he may suspect whether the chethana has ulterior motives of leaving Him after his wish is granted. So we should not give room for such an oppurtinity and earn his displeasure. This is the way in which our elders explain. Anyway, we can accept this explanation without further question or going deep into arguments. Should we not be happy if our wishes are considered in the first request itself ?.
3question dealing with two aspects. (1) Learning of Vishnu sahasranama. Good. Let your friend learn it. (2). Reading of Rahasyatrayas. ... It is not a sin to read Rahasyatra. Even one reads it with out help, he cannot get or comprehend the complete meaning of it. Though they are short verses, they contain the complete Vedhantic Philosophy. In the first place, the learner should have the aptitude, sufficient basic as well advanced knowledge to grasp the substance. Further Qualified Acharyas are required to explain it. Otherwise, the treasure will be twisted, distorted and will be made to loose its importance. That is why they are called ' Rahasyas ". If a diamond stone is picked up by a boy who do not know its value, What its use for him ? Now a days Ashtaksharamanthram., Dwayam and Sarama slokam are available in, print, in tape etc., But, We simply repeat it any number of times. It cannot be called a sin. But, do we derive the intended benefit out it ?
4. Adiyen is a resident of Velachery, Chennai. At present Adiyen is staying with my second son, in Toronto, Canada. Adiyen will continue to stay here for some more time. How long? At present Adiyen am not in a position to answer.
Regarding 36,000 padi Vyakyanam. Adiyen have the complete set of Vyakayanams and other important publications on Srivaishnavism, particularly the publications of Sriman Sudharsanar otherwise known as Putur Swamy. In fact, Whatever little knowledge Adiyen is supposed to possess, it is his'Pichai" or 'Prasadam' to me. He has rendered valuble service to Srivaishnavism. He has published Poorvacharya's grantham with his commentaries. This willbe helpful in understanding the text. Especially, his commentaries on Baghavat Gita With Sri Ramanuja Bhashya is wonderful treatise. People who can afford should patronize these publications. One word of CAUTION regarding Baghavat Vishayam commentaries. They are in Manipravalam Language. Sriman Sudarsanar has answered more than 1500 questions . Thsese can be read without any difficulty and will be help to understand our heritage.
5. Why Perumal made Namazhvar to wait for a long time? Whether his birth was covered by 'Karma'
Here Adiyen will refer to one pasuram of RAN. 41. 'MANMISAI YONIKAL THORUMPIRANTHU ENGALMADHAVANE KANNURA NIRKILUM KAANAKILLA uLAKORKALLEM ANNAL IRAMANUJAN VANDHU THONRIYAPOZHUTHE NANNARUM GNAM THALIONDU NARANARKAYEENARE.'Emperuman took Avathars, particularly in Krishnavatarm people took him as an ordinary person with magical power and did not recognize him as an avathar of Sriman Narayanan.. So., Emperuman decided to utilise human resources, such as Azhwars to educate people, as in the case of capturing animals with animal decoys. That is why Namazhvar, an amsam of Nityasuri, not covered by laws of Karama took birth in the world to propagate Thiruvaimozhi.
Regarding Saranagathi Gathyam. 'Dwayam or Ashtakshara mantram etc., will definetely help one in getting Moksham. But, Do you think it as a magic wand to land you in Moksham in the next second ?. Should we be not ready fully equipped with such an intense desire to get away from Samsara and to reach Moksha ? So, utterances of Saranagathi Gathya and for that matter any otherpractice such as Namasankeerthanam etc., of Sriman Narayanan will pave the way for journey toward the goal. Mokksha is assured for those who believe Him with intense desire of Moksha, nothing but that.
Regarding Sattumurai. Adiyen have explained my difficulty. Adiyen do not want to commit with out proper authority.
Regarding Azhagar Thirumalai Madabusi. : Azhagar... Name of a person, Thirumalai.. Name of the place to which the person belongs Madabhusi ( Family name ) Beyond this Adiyen do not have any knowledge. Adiyen have heard that Madabusiars belong to good Srivaishnavite family.
Regarding Upadesarathinamalai. Sri Prathivathi Bhayankaram Annankaracharya Swamy has given his commentary to this text. Adiyen have explained my difficulty already.
Adiyen's Prayer...MAY LORD SRIMAN NARAYANAN BLESS YOU WITH SRIVAISHNAVA SRI.
Adiyen Ramanuja dasan T.Parthasarathy.
