SrI:
SrImathE Gopaladesika mahadesikaya namah:
Dearest all,

Let us continue to enjoy AzhwArs wonderful verses on
Thiruvenkatamudiayaan. Now after Thirumangai AzhwAr
anubhavam, we have reached the Chief among AzhwArs-
the Only AzhwAr who is also in Acharya paramparai of
Srivaishnavam- namely NammAzhwAr.

let us enjoy His divinely majestic and most wonderful
Thiruvaymozhi verses.

Before that, let us contemplate on NammAzhwAr [Sri
SatakOpamuni?s] divine lotus feet

BhakthAmrutham viswa janAnumodhanam
sarvArthatham Sri Satakopa Vaangmayam
sahasra SaakOpanishadh samAgamam
namAmyaham Draavida Vedha Saagaram

Meaning ): adiyEn salutes the ocean of Tamizh Vedam ,
which is of the form of Sri SaThakOpan's vaak
(speech/aruLiccheyalkaL). These are linked to the
thousand upanishads and includes in them all the deep
meanings (Taathparyams)of Tatthva-Hitha-PurushArthams
and artha Panchakam. They are nectar to the minds of
the devotees of Sriman NaarAyaNan and they enjoy it
with relish as aparyAthAmrutham [insatiable amirtham].

Today?s ThiruvEnkatam verse is: Thiruvaaymozhi 2.6.10

paRpa_naapanuyarvaRavuyarum perundhiRalOn,
eRparanennaiyaakkik kondenakkEthannaiththandha
kaRpakam, ennamutham kaarmukilpOlumvENGkada_nal
veRpan, visumpOr_piraa NnendhaithaamOtharanE. 2.7.11

PADMANABHAN- the One who has got Lotus Flower in His
navel- has Got the GREATEST of GREATEST GLORIES and
STRENGTHS; He has enslaved me; HE OFFERED HIMSELF too
to me; He is like the kaRpaka vruksham (kaRpaka tree-
in dEvalOkA- that is capable of everything one
wishes!) and is of Blue Hued Lord and stands at
ThiruvEnkadam; He is My father who is also the Chief
of NityasUris- (Akila jagadh swamin- and asmath
swamin- Sriranga nAtha and mama nAthA!) He is
DAMODHARAN- the One who has got the marks of the rope
(which was tied to His Body by the MOST LUCKIEST
YASODHA for His stealing butter!- in fact, there is an
interesting anecdote that upon Mahalakshmi's request,
when Lord Sriman Narayana at Sri Vaikuntam helped
Himself to get some fruits from the tree, the
"utthriyam"(upper piece of cloth) fell and exposed His
marks of the rope to MahAlakshmi and SHE SAW THE
MARKS; Our "poor" Sriman Narayana had to say all sorts
of stories to cover up His mischief and stealing acts
(BUT FAILED)- Since then it seems He makes it a point
to wear the Golden waist band (OttiyaaNam) in order to
prevent any further embarrassment to Him- How Sweet it
would have been to witness the Primordial Chief- SARVA
VALLABHAN - getting Himself tied down by a small
simple rope by the "ARIVONDRUMILLAADHA AAYKKULATTHU"
yasOdhA- It appears all dEvAs including Brahmaa and
Rudra assembled at the sky and saw THIS MOST SOWLABHYA
EVENT; What a Lord! What a Lord! What a Lord is OUR
SRIMAN NARAYANAN!)

This reminds me of Thirumangai AzhwAr?s wonderful
verse:
ThaamOruruttith thayir nei vizhungittu
ThamOdhath thavazhvarenRu aaichchiyar thaambinaal
ThaamOtharakkaiyaal aarkkath thazhumbiruntha
dhaamOOdharaa
- 10-5-3 Periya Thirumozhi [given below is an extract
from Sri MG Vasudevan Swami?s write up full of
anubhavams]

Thaam mOr urutti- thaambinaal kattiya mOrp paanaiyai
urutti- rolled over the pot containing butter milk
which was tied with the rope for stability and [or
kept in the uRi rope hanger],
-thayir nei vizhungi- swallowed fast curd and ghee
[can take it as butter also]
-thaam Oda, thavazhvar enRu- the aaichchiyar started
running to catch the boy krishna but he immediately
started crawling- because a crawling boy is a child,
so he should not be taken to task for he can not do
any big mischief. Another point here is since the curd
butter milk etc are spilled over the floor, the floor
is slippery- so if aaichchi starts running to catch
the boy krishna, she will fall badly in front of the
mischievous krishna. So she did not run but crawled to
catch him but he started running.

-aaichchiyar thaambinaal- the lady brought ropes to
tie or beat him- for that is the tools which is easily
available to aaichchi [a cane to drive the cows and
calves is another easy tool which aaichchi can reach
easily]
-thaamOtharakkaiyaal aarkka- started beating krishnaa
with the hands with rope stains- due to continuous
holding of rope during churning of curd, the hands had
become rough for the aaichchi- kaaichchu pOna kaaiyaal
adikka

thazhumbiruntha dhaamOdhara- that kind of rope beaten
stains are there in your body - oh dhamOdhara - oh
krishna
[Thanks Sri MG Vasudevan swami]
Sarvam Sri krishNArpaNamasthu
AzhwAr ThiruvaDigaLE saraNam
Regards
Namo narayana
