SrI: Dear Srivaishnavas, This is part-5 of this picture series. http://www.pbase.com/svami/navatirupati (Pictures from all these divyadesams are put together for ease of viewing... Later these will be organised in proper galleries) AdiyEn and srI M. R. rAmAnujam swAmi together started around 8.30 AM in the morning, in an Auto rikshaw to all other 8 temples of the nava thiruppathi. Not all the temples permitted photography. Adiyen found this slokam saluting all the navathiruppathi temples, in the internet, but do not know the source, the page says it is by manavala mamunikal. ?vaikuNThanaathha vijayaasana bhoomipaala dEvESa pankajavilOchana chOranATyaan nikshEpavittha makarayakarNapASou nAthham namaami vakuLAbharaNEna saarthham? The first destination was thirukkOLur, vAitha mAnidhi. perumaL is reclining on adiSEshan, with his left hand he is looking for treasures (in mashi nOTTam) for the sake of giving to kuberan (adiyen was told by the sannidhi archakar swamin). nammAzhwAr gives the name ?vaithamAnidhi? or in sanskrit ?NikshEpa vitthan?. Thayars: kumudvavalli and kOLUr valli nAchiyar. Azhwar explains 6.7.1. TVM unnum chORu parukunIr thinnum vettilayum EllAm kaNNAn??.thiNNam en ILamAn pukumUr thirukkOLUrE. Only paramAthma is poshakam, dhArakam and bhOgyam. The place is the birth place of madhurakavi AzhwAr. The place is also associated with thirukOLUr ammAL rahasyam during the emperumAnArs time. Then from thirukkolur we went to thenthirupperai. perumAl in vIttriuntha thirukkolam known as makara nedum kuzhai kAthar (vellai churiSankhodu azhiyEnthi 7.3.1 TVM). The garudAzhwan and dwaja sthambam, is shifted away from perumals front as he wanted to see the children playing in the street (vEda oliyum, piLLai kuzhA viLayATToliyum). Thayar: Kuzhalkadhuvalli Natchiyar, Thirupperai Natchiyar. >From there we crossed thramraparni river, and went to perunkuLAm. The divyadESam is called ThirukkuLandhai. The perumAl uthsavar called mAyakUththan. The temple was closed, and we were surprised why? Then a local passed by and told don?t look for perumAl here, go to the thamraparni river. He is there for thIrthavAri.(there are two pictures of perumal on pallakku) We rushed to the thramraparni, there he comes back from thirthavari on a palanquin. We just missed the thirthavari by an hour or so, the Archakars were kind enough to stop the palanquin and gave us a wonderful sevai, with SrIsadagopam and prasadam. thAyar: Alamelumangai Tayar, Kulandaivalli Nachiyaar >From there we went to Irattai thiruppathi. It is counted as two divya desam, in nava thirupathi, aravinda lOcanar and dEvapirAn. First temple hosts dEvapirAn, and the second temple, right on the banks of the river hosts aravinda lOcanar and karunthaDakaNNI thAyAr. In the 108 divyadEsams, they are counted as one. thirutholai villimangalam is the mukkOTTai which nammAzhwAr pour out the thamizh marai. nammAzhwar still comes to this temple during the end of margazhi uthsavam for one week even though the practice to go to SrIrangam was stopped almost 1000 years ago. Such is the relation with thulaivillimangalam and AzhwAr (thuvalil mAmani mAdamongu thulaivilli mangalam thozhum ivALAi) Azhwar says ?sinthayinAlum chollalum seykayinAlum thEvapiranayE thanthai thAy entradaintha vankurukUravar SadagOpan. >From there we went to thirupulinkudi. Such a beautiful Sayana thirukkOlam, perumAl is called kAychinavEndan. perumAL thiruvadi (vadivaNaiyillA malarmakaL mattu nilamakaL pidikkum melladi) is not visible directly one has to go around the temple and should have the sevai from a small window, since the thAyars hide the thiruvadi in the front of the temple. There is a sannidhi for emperumAnar and kUratthAzhwAn. Thayar is puUmagal nAchiyAr. Azhwar here ask the perumAL un thAmarai kaNkaLAl nOkkAy?. (panda nALALE 9.2.1 TVM). While emperumanar on the way to thiruppulinkudi asked a lady how far is thirpulinkudi, she replied, don?t you know azhwar pasuram, pulinkudi is in ?kooppidu dUram? (?koovuthal varuthal seyyay?) >From thiruppulinkudi we went to varagunamankai known as natham. peurmAl is called vijayasanar. Referring to Azhwar, ?puLinkudi kiDanthu varaguNamangai nintru SrIvakunthathuL nintru?. kaaychinavEnthan is the thirunamam for perumal. varaguNavalli thAyar is the thayars name. Sri vaikuntham was the last place to visit, where perumAL gives darsan in the ninthra thirukkOlam. Archakar swami told, every day navakalasa thirumanjanam is performed to the moolavar. Thayar is vaikuNdavalli and bhu devi. Uthsavar is called kaLLAr pirAn. Our trip ended by 12.00 noon. For the entire navathiruppathi there is only one AzhwAr. nammAzhwAr at AzhwArthirunagari. nammAzhwAr thiruvaDikaLE SaraNam rishim jushAmahE krshNa thrshNA thathwamivOthitham sahasra SAkhAm yOdrAkshIth drAvidIm brahma samhithAm Tips: For the people who visit nava thiruppathi. Azhwar thirunagari is the excellent base camp, and Auto rikshaw is very convenient for small groups of 1-3 people, only costs Rs.275 for the entire trip. Please keep this order and timing. Since adiyen stayed in Azhwar thirunagari for 3 days adiyen was not in a rush to go to AdipirAn-Azhwar temples, since the rest of the evening adiyen spent with Azhwar and AdipirAn sevai. For the visitors in a hurry, please start around 7 AM from Adipiran and then follow this order. And please keep the time before 12 noon. All temples closes at 12.00. Srivaikuntham is so perfect in timing 12 o clock closed is closed. adieyn ramanuja dasan Sreekanth __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
