Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama: Adiyen doubts if many people will come forward to put down another school of thought, but Boudha matham is misleading according to our purvacaryas. Simply because it does not accept Vedam as pramanam, as also shruthi & smrithi. It is hence misleading to consider Budha as one in dasavatharam (although adiyen has noticed these days that this is prevalent). A few of our azhwars have fought hard to not let people go astray because of such influences. It will only create pain in Perumal's heart (manasu punpadum) if we go astray. Many of our acaryas (leave alone Emperumanar who was crystal clear on this) have talked about Bahya & kudhrishti mathams that only mislead people. That is not to say that Vishnu (by definition, Vishnu is One who Sarvathra Vasathithi, he pervades everything) does not reside inside Budha or that his (budha's) jeevathma is not shariram of Sriyapathi. That is true of all jeevathmas who are His eternal servants. Science deals verily with only the physical, and to confuse or mix that with sampradayam can be very misleading, though very tempting? [I would listen to a few upanyasams by any Srivaishnava scholars to understand sampradayic differences]. What adiyen has said is laced with my ignorance, and _my_ ignorance only. Adiyen ramanuja dasan. -- Adiyen has a book by Sri Varadachari Swami "Sri Yamunacharya", where when translating one of Sri Alavandar's works "Atmasiddhi", he (Sri Alavandar) explains: The Buddhist theory that knowledge is itself the soul and that there is nothing like known apart from the knower is refuted by the author. Knowledge is transient. If that were to be the soul, cases of recognition like 'I saw this' cannot be explained. Admission of a series of knowledge cannot explain recognition, for as knowledge perishes soon after it rises, there cannot be a knower to have it. It is necessary to admit a seat for this stream of consciousness...The author cites passages from the Chandogya, Brhadaranyaka, Prasna, Taittriya and Aitareya upanishads in support of this concept. ----- Original Message ---- From: Vrithika <vrithi2000@xxxxxxxxx> To: ramanuja@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, May 8, 2007 9:20:35 AM Subject: [sri ramanuja] Avatars of Lord Vishnu Dear Revered Bhaagavatas.. My friend asked me this doubt about the avatars of Vishnu. She wanted to know if there is a scientific correalation between evolution of Man and the avatars of Vishnu. Like, they say life started in sea and thus the first avatar was Matsya. I also would like to know if Buddha is an avatar of Lord Vishnu? It really pains me when everyone reads about our Lord from some unauthenticated book by some author rather than reading those written by our Poorvachryas.. Is there an online book avaliable about the Avatars of Vishnu... I would be grateful if someone could throw light on these issues... My humble pranams to Bhagavat bhandhus..
