ANDAL'S ENVY CONCH'S PRIDE

In the previous posting, it was seen that the divine conch breathes fire into
the minds of opponents. This has been spelt out by other AzhwAr also. For
instance, bhUdhathAzhwAr in second thiru vandhAdhi 71 mentions "idangai,
valampuri ninRArpa.." The conch makes booming sound from the divine left hand
of the Lord.

The role of the Lord is to remove the difficulties of the devotees and to
fulfill their wishes. By the fiery actions, the pAnchajanyam, the hindrances of
the devotees are sought to be removed. What is it that it does for fulfilling
the wishes of the devotees?

This is explained in nAchiAr thiru mozhi : " pUngkOL thirumugathu maduthUdhiya
sangoliyum.." 9-9.

During krishNAvathAram, sri rukminip pirAtti was restlessly waiting for the
Lord, lest sisupAlan would be a threat to Her. Her, eagerness, anxiety was
reaching its boiling point and culminated into extreme worrisome situation. At
that time, the sound of the conch pAnchajanyam, ' bum, bum' reached sri
rukminip pirAtti and relieved Her greatly. She was saved, saved from the
anxiety, saved from the restlessness, as the arrival of the Lord was signalled
by the divine conch.

AndAL is asking the Lord - when am I going to hear such a sound and get myself
rescued? She thus awaits the sound.

Thus, what is terrific noise to the opponents is music and melody to the
devoted souls. The devotees await with zest the din of the sound, music to their
ears. It is akin to manna dew from the skies.

is that all?
