Dear Sir, I was totally fascinated by the exchange of correspondence in the above digest attempting a rational explanation of Reality. May I request the organizers to publish Nappinnai's explanations in the form of a brochure. Being neither a practising Vaishnava nor a scientist, but an investment banker, I have been regularly deleting the Digest material as much of it seems to follow the Bakthi cult of the Alwars. I do read segments of Divya Prabandam, where there is no room for science or rationalization, but an unbounded faith, and total surrender. I interpret God and my relationship to Him as follows: Upon realization of the Reality (i.e. Narayana) , again largely by the grace of Reality, one recognizes that he is part of that Reality. Serving humanity which is part of Reality with the expectation of improved perceptions of Reality then becomes a goal in itself, which is none other than Saranagathi. How does God select one for a place in Vaikuntam? In Gita, Bhagavan says that only a few among the thousands yearning for Him truly arrive at His door, and that too after several cycles of birth and death. I have come across a number of very good people, with lots of character who simply hate a ritualisatic approach to religion. Who is nearer to Narayana? : One who pours ghee and dhahi ritualistically daily on the idol or the one who volunteers to help those in need of education, skills, community service etc. These are random questions, the answers for which mostly seem to lie in one's own faith.
