Dear Bhagavathas,

Another rejoinder from my father on the issue.

Adiyen Ramanuja Dasan

Aravindan
**************************

The latest e mail enclosure on Parathantrium is
interesting and discusses the eternally unsolvable
question of soul?s autonomy.

A very important aphorism of Sri Vachana Bhushnam(
152) of Pillailokachariar is quoted and explained. I
wish to say that the Parathantrium stated in the
aphorism is that of Eswara and not of the soul.
Eswara?s Swatantrium is destroyed in two ways. One by
the soul?s pleadings of his misery that in turn
kindles His Krubai that destroys His Swathantrium
making Him a Parathatran to the soul-in fact the Lord
becomes a ?dependent? on the soul and bestows on the
soul whatever the soul wants. This is ? Kribayale
varum Parathantrium?

The second way He gets Parathantrium is by His
Swathantrium itself-out of His own Kepaaratra
Swathatram-- like an elephant garlanding any one it
fancies and makes him a king. The Lord loses His
Swathatrium and becomes dependent on the soul and does
what ever the soul wants.

The aphorism says the latter Parathantrium of the Lord
is superior because it cannot be withdrawn having been
given to the soul out of His free will Lord Rama?s
grace on Guhan and Hanuman belongs to this category-
they did not ask for it.

The aphorism explains, that in a way
Swagathasweekaram can not become a Upaya to reach God.

I hope you are able to follow the above explanation
that is based on Manavalamamuni?s interpretation of
the aphorism. I write this because I got the
impression from the e mail that it talks about the
soul?s Parathantrium
