Sri: Srimathe Ramanujaya nama; Dear bhAgavatAs, Salutations to all. Something was disturbing my mind in connection to vEda vyAsa/bAdarAyana,the author of brahma sUtra and the codifier of the vEdAs. Veda vyAsa didn't attain mOksa(did he desire it or not? I have just started reading Srimad BhAgavata MahApurANam!)who followed the path of pravrtti(course of action). He used to do tapas etc but got attracted to a nymph and as a result of which SukAchArya was born. SukAchArya followed the path of nivrtti (course of actionless),was completely detached from material and all kinds of pleasures with the exception of "love for God" and attained mOksa. We chant 'vyAsa uvAca" in Sri ViSNu sahasranAmam. Why it bothered because of the Bhagavad Gita text. Abrahma-bhuvanAl lOkA: punar AvarthinO 'rjuna | mAm upEthya tu kaunthEya punarjanma na viDhyathE || (BG 8:16) where the Lord says that from BrahmA down, come and go O Arjuna; but he who comes unto ME,O KountEya,never returns to the samsArA(from brahma's world downwards is subjected to repeated births and deaths) People keep stressing on "sAstrAs". There is a misconception on varNAsrama dharma and nitya karmAs even among the srivaiSNavaites(there are three types of devotees namely svaniSTa,pariniSTitha, nirapEksha and how they are classifed). No intention to offend anyone. I'm somehow reminded of Sri Vacana BhUShaNam and AcArya Hrdayam. The ultiamte goal of the individual soul(as per sAstra)is to reach Him/HighestBrahman/PuruShOttamA. The thought of Veda vyAsa,the author of brahmasUtra, not attaining mOksa, bothered me. (I know that the answer lies in TennAchArya sampradAyam but is there any other answers to explain).
