Nevertheless, First of all, it is NOT a zoological impossibility. Second, it is NOT prudent to use myopic science and our still smaller understanding of it to question indefatigable truths. Let us look at the Morphometrics of the two animals (with due apologies to the other group members for dwelling onto needless mathemagics) Crocs have a jaw size of approx. 8 feet Crocs jaws can maximally be apart upto 90 degrees. This forms a triangle with an area of ***32 sq feet*** . Max height of an Asian elephant is 4 metres (size hasnt changed much evolutionarily) The Circumference of the forefoot (which is larger than the leg) is approx half the shoulder height. Which means it cannot be more than 2 meters. 2*pi*r = 2 metres => r = ***** 0.3183 metres ***** ----> (A) Now, What is the radius of the circle that can be inscribed within a triangle of area 32 sq feet? rInsc = area/k ; k = (a+b+c)/2; a,b,c being sides of triangle => rInsc = 32/13.65 = 2.34 feet rInsc = 2.34 feet = 2.34 * 0.3048 metres = 0.7132 metres ---> (B) rInsc/r = 0.7132/0.3183 = 2.24 Which means the Croc can maximally grab MORE than TWO forefoot.
