Dear Sri Deepak, I think the story goes thus. In this shloka, the Lord says "aham vahAmi" - that is, "I bear", rather than using another verb, for taking care of this world and its beings. The brahmin trusted this completely and was dependent on the Lord for everything. However, his household was in disarray due to lack of funds and one day his wife told him "Of what use is your trust? The Lord is not taking care of us". The brahmin was vexed and he struck out the phrase "vahAmyaham" with charcoal in his sahasranamam text that he read every day and left the house. While he was gone, the Lord appeared in the form of the brahmin himself carrying bags of food items on His back and delivered them at the house. Upon his return, the brahmin was surprised to see all the bags in the house and aksed his wife about it. Perplexed, she asked him "Did you not bring in the bags yourself a little while ago?" The brahmin realized what had happened and quickly ran over to his Sahasranamam text. When he looked at this shloka, he saw that the charcoal mark had been erased and had been replaced by a turmeric mark over the same phrase. He then fell to his feet and with tears in his eyes sang the praise of the Lord - for had He not literally born ("vahAmi") the brahmin's load on His back. adiyEn madhurakavi dAsan --- Deepak Vinod <deepak.vinod@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Namo Narayana, > > "ananyaschintayanta mam ye janah paryupasate > tesham nityabhiyuktanam yogakshemam vahamyaham" > > > Does anyone remember the true story of a brahmana who was > once crossed out > this verse from Shri Gita because he believed in it all > his life and in the > end thought it was NOT true. > > Dasanudas > Deepak > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
