Dear Bhagavatas:
I agree with Sri Rajagopalan Narayanan. We should remember it was a debate and
Alavandar posed a proposition that the Court poet could not answer.

It is like saying "amarar" meaning "deathless" when applied to Celestials. They
are NOT eternal. But since they are said to live much much longer than ordinary
folk, comparatively speaking, they appear as if they are eternal.

So, we should not read too much into what obviously was a battle of words.

Let us not indulge in another battle of words and waste our time.
Let us move on.

swamin,
arent we taking the words too loterally and looking for support from
srutis./It is the vkchathuryam of sri alavandar to be appreciated.
Maladi means barreness. The plantain tree is maladi after the yield.Similarly a
woman is barren if she cannot bear a second child
Did the queen under question have a second child?
If draupadi is a pathivratha every woman married to the devas as per sastra
before her real weddng is a pathivratha if she so remains after her wedding.
To distinguish between a chakravarhi and a soverign king is belabouring the
subject.
let us appreciate the vakchathryam of alavandar and lack of presence of mind
of the pulavar for not providing a quick repartee.
