Dear member,
You are very right. In the world we live in,
unfortunately, we do not have persons of sufficient
stature and moral authority who can restrain and
change errant behavioural tendencies among the young
and misguided in life --- as Sri Lakshmana was able to
do with Sri Rama in the Ramayana. If we did, the world
would be such a less violent place to live in.
I'm glad that you liked the posting and it I'm very
happy to hear you say that it made you and your
friends sit up and think. Our scriptures like the
Ramayana are not merely meant to be venerated as "holy
book". They are meant really to make us contemplate
and search ("dharmaa and brahma vichaara"). If we do
not recognize that fact, then it's really a waste of
time and we'd have lost a life-time of opportunity to
learn from life and grow wise.
