Dear Bhaaagavatas Given below is the Review of "Pearls of Wisdom in Srimad Ramayanam" by "Sri Vedanta Desika Vidya" a monthly Religious Journal. Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy ============================================================================= BOOK REVIEW IN SRI VEDANTA DESIKA VIDYA (A Journal of Srivaishnavas). Volume 2 Issue 6 - November 2008 (Page 38) Editor: Shri T.C.Shrinivasan M.A.B.L ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PEARLS OF WISDOM FROM SRIMAD RAMAYANAM By Sri Anbil Ramaswamy Published by Sri Ranga Sri, Available at Chennai Ph: 044-2657 3246 Price Rs. 200/E.Mail: ramanbil@xxxxxxxxxxx Srimad Ramayana, the Adhi Kavya needs no introduction. Any number of readings of any reputed edition of Ramayana will bring pleasure and mental peace. Sri Ramayana is a sacred text for Hindus. The story is not new. Everyone knows the story of Rama and Sita, at least an overall story. Then why another book? With every reading of Sri Ramayana whether by Valmiki or Kamban or Tulsidas, the reader is bound to get more ideas not by any grasping ability of the reader, but by the n divine will. Sri Rama makes the reader to understand many more meanings for every word of every Ramayana in glory of Rama. The influence of Rama and Sita are so great that even the Non-Vedic religions like Buddhits and Jains, were influenced by it. But in the modern days, the parents have no patience to tell the story of Rama to their children. Even the elders are busy seeing the old cinemas on TVs. They find no time to tell their wards the greatness of this Kavya. There is a genuine demand for a simple edition of Ramayana for those youngsters who could be comfortable in English. Sri Anbil Ramaswamy, in spite of his very advanced age, has taken pains to condense the wisdoms of various Ramayanas based on the writings of great personalities like Sri Parvakkottai Andavan Swamy, and delivered them in a lucid manner. He has given the book under review in simple style, canto wise, without missing even a single important event or description.
His way of writing is like that of the grandfather telling the story directly to his grandchildren. Here, we find a grandfather who could be chaired in the dining hall of any house, in any nation, who is all willing to tell this great story. A reading of this book by all, particularly youngsters, will take them to the realm of Rama, Sita and Hanuman. They will enjoy provided the parents permit them. Editor __._,_.___
