Dear Bhagavatas:
The temple mentioned by Sri Narasimhan Swamy does not belong to either category
viz., "the ones affluent already or the newer ones cropping up every now and
then". This one is neither affluent nor is one that has cropped up recently
like so many temples for which fund raising proposals are being received so
freqently.

My remarks were in the context of earmarking funds from the Sale proceeds of MY
book. Sri Narasimhan's posting provided an opportunity to state my stand in the
matter.

Your kind attention is invited to my clarification in the same mail:
"Let me hasten to assure you that I do not mean that these should be
discouraged and in fact newer temples are necessary these days, true to the
saying 'Kovil illaa ooril kuDi irukka vENDaam'.

I am only indicating the prorities. This is for your consideration".

I repeat: This is a question of priorities.

Dear Swamy,

At the outset let me thank u for posting the appeal in the web site. I did not
quite follow your statement:

"In fact, I have committed myself to earmark excess of receipts over expenses
incurred in publishing my book "Hinduism Rediscovered" towards these temples,-
NOT the ones affluent already or the newer ones cropping up every now and then."

I guess for sure, that u have not meant to include the Lakshmi Narasimha swamy
temple of Nala Bazaar, Sec'bad into the so-called "affluent" category of
temples which do not enjoy ur priority and hence the temple will be in the list
of recipients of ur contribution.

If u meant it the other way, then I will have to explain you the following
situation for clarity to remove any kind of misgivings.

(1) Needless to say, this temple is not an "Alwar" padal temple. But, it is an
old temple worshipped by great swamies in the past. This now is in a
dilapadated state without care. To me, and I am sure to any person following
pancharathra agamam will immediately agree that 'Lord' resides inside these
temples, whether sung by alwar or not looking forward to the devotees to 'take
care of him' (it is his leela).

(2) In my opinion any temple in a dilapadated state needs to be protected and
restored to its glory in the same way as far as possible. So, my earnest
request is to only appeal to the devotees for this purpose without any kind of
classifications.

If I have convinced u about it, then Lord Lakshmi Narasimha of this temple will
be benefited for I am sure u will include him in your list too.

There are so many temples from ancient times that have been consecrated by our
dear Azhwars and Acharyas. Quite a few of them are today languishing for funds
even for Deepam, Vastram, Naivedyam etc. I believe that our first duty is
towards these temples before we devote attention to the modern ones. I have
identified a few of them and Sri R.M Venkat Swami and Sri M.K.Suidarshan Swami
of Kuwait are presently engaged in helping such temples. In fact, I have
committed myself to earmark excess of receipts over expenses incurred in
publishing my book "Hinduism Rediscovered" towards these temples,- NOT the ones

Dear Bhagavathas,

A good movement is going on to renovate dilapadated temples and their
restoration of past glory. A first attempt is started with Sri Lakshmi
Narasimhaswamy Temple, Nala Bazaar, Secunderabad- an old temple dating back to
300 years. Bhaktas interested in participating in such noble kainkaryams may
kindly contact Sri Mohan swamy who has appealed for contributions.

His address is given below:
