My interest in WP is scientific, religious and literary. Percy is the oddest, most original voice in 20th century American letters/philosophy. How many writers come from a scientific perspective? A few. How many from a religious perspective? Quite a few, though not many have been successful. Put the two together, plus a shade of the South, and you have WP, who was wildy successful (not just in getting a book contract).

I teach high school English in Greensboro, N.C. and my junior honors classes read THE MOVIEGOER.

I first read WP in 1977, skipped classes for two days because I could not put LOVE IN THE RUINS down. THE LAST GENTLEMAN is my favorite.
