Dear Percy-L,

For Percy-L community members who wish to know of, if not support a
unique and permanent project to honor Percy, please find below
information about the forthcoming "Walker Percy Serenity Circle" garden
and "Walker Percy Room" to be offered in the near future through a new
public library being built near Percy's hometown of Covington in St.
Tammany Parish, LA.

I hope you will consider supporting this most worthy project and pass
this information on to others who may wish to contribute to the library
project. Contact information for the project is listed below.

Best wishes,
Henry Mills

THE ST. TAMMANY LIBRARY FOUNDATION Invites interested persons to be part
of Its new major historic project, the WALKER PERCY SERENITY CIRCLE, a
place of quiet and peaceful repose next to the new St. Tammany Library
in Madisonville, LA.

The library project will honor Percy, as a longtime resident of
Covington and world-wide acclaimed author, in three ways by:

  * Constructing a brick patio next to one of Louisiana's live oak trees
    and adjacent to the new library;
  * Creating a Walker Percy Room in the library containing his works and
those written about him to offer a quiet place for reading and
    writing; and
  * Installing a permanent bronze statue of Percy and his Welsh Corgy
"Sweet Thing" sitting on one of the patio's benches.

Interested parties may support the project by sponsoring an engraved
brick on the patio, or also by contributing a book. Donors may honor
someone of their choosing through a personalized engraving on the brick,
which can include space for a short quote. All donations are tax-deductible.

"AN AFTERNOON WITH THE LAST GENTLEMAN"
An earlier event this spring entitled, "An Afternoon with the Last
Gentleman," was held on April 27 from 3-6 p.m. under the Seven Sisters
Oak, the 1500 year-old National Champion Live Oak Tree, in nearby
Mandeville, LA. The special tribute and fundraising gathering was
staged to honor the legacy of Percy and raise funds for the library
project. Readers may find information about the event here:
