Dear Percy-L:
As another Percy centennial event and news item, below you will find a
short article about the dedication ceremony of the "Walker Percy
Serenity Circle" on May 12 from the New Orleans Advocate. Visit the URL
to see photographs of the event, the garden, and the life-sized bronze
statue of Percy.
Best wishes,

*Foundation dedicates memorial to Walker Percy*
You might know him as the author of "The Moviegoer," which was written
in 1961 and received the National Book Award. Time magazine named it
"one of the best English language books published since 1923." But to
many in St. Tammany, Walker Percy was also a friend and neighbor.
The St. Tammany Library Foundation honored both of those personas on May
12 with the dedication of the Walker Percy Serenity Circle at the
Madisonville Library and the unveiling of a sculpture of Percy by
Covington artist Bill Binnings.
May 28 marks the 100th anniversary of Percy's birth. Considered one of
the greatest writers of the 20th century, he lived in Covington from
1948 until his death in 1990.
