God Hid His Face
Selected Poems of RAJZEL ZYCHLINSKY

Winter Song

God,
have pity on the man
who goes to you alone
in the snows.
He is old.
Older than the Himalayas
is his blood,
his fear,
his prayer to you.
You were waiting for him,
you didn't recognize him.
Indifferently the snow covers
his footprints –
so will it cover
his grave.
