Chat Room Discussion at the Annual Meeting of the OAH

CHAT ROOM
"Is the Internet a Disservice to Historical Research?"
A Chat Room Discussion at the Annual Meeting of the Organization of
American Historians
April 29, 2001, 9:30-11:00
All archivists attending this year's annual meeting of the Organization of
American Historians in Los Angeles are invited to join in an informal
discussion with historians about the future of research in the age of the
Internet. One of the Sunday morning "chat rooms" will address the question
of whether the Internet is doing a disservice to historical scholarship by
changing researchers' expectations and cutting off dialogue with curators
and archivists. Discussion facilitators will be Ken Rose from the
Rockefeller Archive Center and Philip Napoli from the Lehman Archives at
Columbia University. Archivists and curators attending the OAH meeting are
encouraged to attend and share their ideas and experiences.
