This is an excellent point.
Further, the clear implication is that the added/italicized words are
somehow extra or add-ons. An obvious case is, for example, the Lucan
geneaology. Is "son" really merely the invention of the translator (I've
seen indicated)? Does "Joseph of the Heli of the Matthat of the..." really
translate the Greek in any meaninful sense?
