My message was sent to you personally, not to the list. I can
understand how you may have thought it was sent to all and so answered to the
whole list. That has happened to me before, too.

Regarding your recent post on the above stated subject. Your reasoning is
flawed simply because inspiration applied Isaiah 7:14 to Jesus Christ (See
Matthew 1:20-23). For Bible believing people that is sufficient to conclude
that Isaiah's prophecy was not a reference to "to events close in time to the
figures involved" but was in fact a prophecy of the virgin birth of Jesus
Christ.

If one is willing to accept that Matthew wrote by the inspiration of the Holy
Spirit It is obvious what God meant in Isaiah 7:14.Obviously, Matthew applies
the prophecy of Isaiah to Mary and the virgin birth of Jesus Christ (Matthew
1:20-23).

I think the context of Isaiah 7:14 is sufficient to show that it was not
originally intended as a prophecy of Christ, though, as you mention, it
was later so applied. Matthew took a number of Old Testament texts out
of context and applied them to Jesus.
Thanks for your message, and happy holidays!

Yes, obviously he does so apply it. But that was not its original
application.
