Romans 12: 6b and following
EITE PROFHTEIAN KATA THN ANALOGIAN THS PISTEWS
EITE DIAKONIAN EN THi DIAKONIA
EITE hO DIDASKWN EN THi DIDASKALIAi
EITA hO PARAKALWN EN THi PARAKLHSEI
hO METADIDOUS EN hAPLOTHTI
hO PROISTAMENOS EN SPOUDHi
hO ELEWN EN hILAROTHTI
The first two uses of EITE are followed by Accusatives.
The next two uses of EITE are followed by substantival participles.
This construct I think has lead one scholar to the following conclusion:
"The other gifts listed are subsets of prophecy and serving.
That teaching and exhorting belong under prophecy, while giving, presiding,
and
showing mercy belong under serving."
Does this conclusion seem probable?
Thanks,
Mark Wilson
