LXX: Gn.5

Dear B-greekers,
I noticed something peculiar about the ages recorded in
the LXX of Gn.5. Verse 3 says that Adam was
DIAKOSIA KAI TRIAKONTA ETH . . .when he begot Seth
-- making him 100 years older at this point than the age
given in the MT.
And then, I suppose, in an effort to arrive at the same age
at death given in the MT (930, v.5), they subtract 100
years from the life of Adam after he begot Seth --
hEPTAKOSIA ETH, v.4.
This exact phenomenon occurs again when relating
the genealogy of Seth (v.6-8), Enos (v.9-11), Kainan (v.12-14),
etc. Rahlf's critical apparatus no explanation that I could find,
and I don't see a discussion of it in Conybeare-Stock.
I was hoping that someone on the list might have an explanation.
Thank you.
