Technology and Grammar

When I was working on my undergraduate degree, I read two articles
written in the late '80s on first and second class conditions. The
author had used a computer to generate a list of passages containing the
conditions, and then had analyzed the passages in the list. I cannot
remember where I read the article, but the results were very interesting
(he argued that the first class condition was generic rather than
"assumed true" which is what I had initially been taught). I don't know
of a full grammar that has been produced by that method outside of
Wallace, but there might be other journal articles using similar
methods.
