Greetings all:
Moo, in his commentary on Romans, says that the participle
PHILOTIMOUMENON in Rom 15.20 modifies the infinitive PEPLHRWKENAI in v.
19. This seems to be correct, since the accusative case of the
participle agrees with the accusative ME, "subject" of the infinitive
in the result clause marked by hWSTE in v. 19. However, does it strike
anyone as odd that a participial clause would be appended with DE? I
don't recall ever seeing anything like this before.
