Ted, here are links to some of the main resources for Biblical discourse
analysis, URL:

Phillip's recommendation for looking at DA from the systemic functional
approach is also important. A lot of good insights for a holistic approach
to language have come out of the British systemic linguistics, with
important thinkers such as Halliday, Hassan, and others, then, surely,
later, British Relevance Theoreticians Sperber and Wilson (whose work has
been applied to Bible translation) also were influenced by systemics.

Then we must not forget other functionalists, including some top scholars in
the U.S., such as T. Givon and others. We have a wealth of insights today.
What is needed are people who can integrate the different disciplines so
that Greek studies and exegesis benefit as much as possible, without Greek
students having to do too much formal studies in linguistics itself, when
their time is limited.
