Many thanks to you, Carl, George and Iver, for your thoughtful
and infrormative responses. Perhaps, like many things in our
field, we will never quite reach consensus. I would be happier
with the proposed in interpretation if I could see some more
precise parallels, with ECEIN intransitive and no supporting
adverbs.
But I would like to query the example from Pseudo-Callisthenes,
cited by BDAG: hOSON TIS hUMWN ECEI PROS hETERON. Here, PROS
seems to take on a sense very close to that of KATA in Mt 5:23,
hO ADELFOS SOU EXEI TI KATA SOU; or am I mistaken?
