Which Greek mss have "hOS ESTIN"? Both UBS4 and NA27 say hO WN. The crucial
textual question in this verse is whether John did or did not write
MONOGENHS hUIOS as most mss have it, but I won't discuss this further.

I agree with Dmitriy that it is not the hO WN (or the EGW EIMI) in and of
themselves that describe Jesus' relationship to the Father (or his deity),
but expressions like "he who is at the side of the Father" and "I am the
Father are one".
