It seems to me that EN MESWi means "in the centre of the arena before
the Throne". Compare John 8:9 KAI KATELEIFQH MONOS KAI hH GUNH *EN MESWi
OUSA*. I imagine the circle of Jesus' disciples with now none but Jesus and
the woman "in the midst", the others having melted away. I imagine the
Throne as like the Imperial Box where the Roman Emperor sat in the Coliseum
at Rome presiding over the events. No doubt every ancient amphitheatre had its
Royal Box or presidential seat overlooking the stage. So EN MESWi means
"centre stage".
