Hi all:
1 Clem 14.1 DIKAION OUN KAI hOSION, ANDRES ADELFOI, hUPHOOUS hHMAS
MALLON GENESQAI TWi QEWi H TOIS EN ALAZONEIAi KAI AKATASTASIAi MUSEROU
ZHLOUS ARCHGOIS EXAKOLOUQEIN.
I get the meaning, but do not quite understand why the adjectives
DIKAION and hOSION are in the accusative case. If I understand the
syntax correctly, hUPHOOUS hHMAS MALLON GENESQAI TWi QEWi H TOIS EN
ALAZONEIAi KAI AKATASTASIAi MUSEROU ZHLOUS ARCHGOIS EXAKOLOUQEIN is a
rather lengthy substantival clause that serves as the subject of an
elliptical ESTIN and DIKAION and hOSION serve as predicate adjectives.
If so, shouldn't they be in the nominative case? I'm probably missing
something obvious here, so if anyone can help me out I would be
appreciative.
