Do you mean hUPARCW? That's a compound verb and the prefix doesn't augment
but rather the root: imperfect hUPHRCON. But the rule for a verb beginning
with a vowel is that the vowel lengthens to augment; it's just that Iota
and Upsilon don't have any differentiation between long and short vowel
forms, so that a verb like IAOMAI, heal will have an imperfect IWMHN in
which the Iota is long, but you can't see it! So hUYOW (to exalt/raise on
high) will have an aorist hUYWSA wherein the Upsilon is long--but it
doesn't show in the spelling.
