someone submitted a question a few weeks back on whether
to get Kittel's TDNT or NIDNTT. i never remember really
reading a definitive answer but was reading this today and
thought i'd share it with you all:

"...However, the articles in the earlier volumes are
somewhat out of date and the theological orientation
throught is generally nonconservative. For these and
other reasons I prefer the four-volume NIDNTT,...Its
advantages over the TDNT are several:
a. Its articles are more up to date.
b. Its word studies are midway between the concise
definitions of a lexicon and the extensive discussions of
the TDNT.
c. It represents the best in evangelical scholarship.
d. It frequently summarizes the discussions in the TDNT.
e. The text uses normal-sized print in contrast to the
small print in the TDNT.
f. The total price of the NIDNTT is approximately
one-third the price of the TDNT.

In addition, the third volume contains a valuable appendix
by Murray J. Harris on the use of prepositions in the
Greek NT."
