i don't have the book in front of me either but there is a 
difference between tapeinosis and litotes (or meiosis). 
litotes is a belittling of something in order to magnify 
*something else* while tapeinosis is a lessening of a 
thing in order to increase it. tapeinosis differs from 
meosis in that the word(s) magnified are the same.
