but not if one wanted to say the equivalent in English,
"Jesus is THE Messiah." would hOTI IHSOUS ESTIN CRISTOS
communicate this?
plus i don't think the presence of the article always
means that the nominal is the subject of the sentence.
there are many other factors involved (e.g., fronting)
other than just articles.
