Dear Philip,
The fragment of Nicolaus can also be found in F. Jacoby, Die Fragmente der
griechischen Historiker. There the reference would be 90 fr. 2. The work by
Jacoby will be in your library.

Thanks to those who responded to my question about Nicolaus Damascenus. I'm
taking it from Arie's comment that Dindorf's Historici Graeci Minores is not
online anywhere?
Our library doesn't have this volume. Would anybody happen to have the
volume and be willing to scan that page for me? If so, please contact me
off-list.
Thank you!
Philip Brown

Dear Philip,
In the list of authors and works in LScJ where you can find the
abbreviations of authors and works Nic. Dam. is explained as Nicolaus
Damascenus.
There you find that his works are quoted in LScJ from the edition by L.
Dindorf.
The abbreviation HGM is explained in the General List of Abbreviations as
Historici Graeci Minores, Leipzig 1870-1.
So you could find your quote on p. 2 of that edition.

Onderwerp: [B-Greek] Help Deciphering a LSJ reference
Fellow B-Greekers,
In LSJs entry for EMPLOKH, the first entry reads:
I. 1. braiding, KOMHS Str.17.3.7 , cf. Nic. Dam.p.2 D., 1 Ep.Pet.3.3.
I understand from the LSJ abbreviation list that Nic. Dam. refers to
Nicolaus Damascenus. However, I am not sure to what p(age) 2 D. refers.
Could someone enlighten me and perhaps point me to a place I might read
whatever it is that LSJ suggest I compare Strabo 17.3.7 and 1 Peter 3:3 to
in Nicolaus Damascenus?
Many thanks!
Philip Brown
