There are some on this list that have Classical
training and this may be a question more so directed
to you.
I understand that EPISTREPW plus Dative meant in
Classical-Attic Greek "entrust." I've read one take on
this were the idea was said to mean that Paul's point
was that he had not "entrusted" teaching, in the sense
of appointing that responsibility or function, to a
woman. And that the final phrase further clarifies
this prohibition, "or (to be more specific) to
exercise authority over a man."
