It was written:

Hi All,

I'd like to know how do you precisely tranlsate Luke 1:1-2.
I mean, it seams strange to me for one to say, for example:
"I wrote about all things Jesus BEGAN to both do and teach UNTIL the
day He was accepted above"

How could one _begin_ something _until_ some future time?

Is it possible that "began" is not realted with "until"?

Does Luke perhaps mean:
"I wrote about all things that Jesus began to both do and teach, [me,
Luke, covering the period from that verry time] UNTIL the day He was
taken above" ?

Thank you verry much.

For conveniance here is the text:
ton men prwton logon epoihsamhn peri pantwn w qeojile wn hrxato o
IhsouV poiein te kai didaskein acri hV hmeraV enteilamenoV toiV
apostoloiV dia pneumatoV agiou ouV exelexato anelhjqh
I have rendered the above segment as...
Indeed I made the first message, O Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to
do and to teach until the day when he was taken up....

Regarding the use of HRXATO (began):

I am of the opinion that the author intended to say that
Jesus began a work that continues to his present time.
I.e., Jesus began to do and to teach certain things, which
things continue to be done and taught in his time. Thus,
his second message would follow up the first by providing
examples of "continuity." They would show that Jesus'
actions and teachings were followed up by the consistent
actions and teachings of his students. That's my take.
