George and Joe,

If you are right, that is an important point. The font tags that I use have
quite a few fonts as well as the embedded Gentium, so the font may be
universally displaying correctly for reasons other than Palatino Linotype.
But from my personal (anecdotal) experience on machines with many operating
systems other or older than Windows XP, I have always found Palatino
Linotype. I may be possible that the word processors such as "Word", or
"Word Perfect", "Open Office" etc., are making it available on non-XP
operating systems. Do you have any advice on how I could easily verify your
claim?

I just did a quick Google search and found the following:

This Microsoft page states that it is standard on Windows 2000
http://channels.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?FID=253&FNAME=Palat
ino+Linotype&FVER=1.40

This page states that it is a Mac Standard Font
http://www.msfrontpage.net/fp/ans-standardfonts.htm

I don't think that this font will work universally, but I do think it will
work with a majority and it a good standard to have among others in a Greek
font tag.

Thanks,
John Schwandt
