The text of Revelation 11:5 begins with a first class condition and
follows that up with a third class condition using the same language but
with a slight change in word order. KAI EI TIS AUTOUS QELEI ADIKHSAI
PUR EKPOREUETAI EK TOU STOMATOS AUTWN KAI KATESQIEI TOUS EXQROUS AUTWN.
KAI EI TIS QELHSH AUTOUS ADKKHSAI HOUTWS DEI AUTON APOKTANQHNAI

First, what if anything is the significance of the change of word order
(the reversal of the accusative and the verb), and second how would one
take the adverb HOUTWS? Is it in the manner just described (ie. by the
fire that comes from their mouths, or will they be killed in the manner
in which they desire to kill the two witnesses)?

Further, is there anything in the verb THELW that suggests that they
have actually acted on their desire, or are the two witnesses aware of
their desires and act in a preemptory fashion?

Thanks in advance,

Ron Snider
