Joel, a fellow member of our "Greek Club", wants to apply to a university as
a mature student.
One of his friends who also has done that, did not get admitted as student
until he had take one university course to prove that he is capable of doing
university level work.
Joel is hoping to avoid having to do this by presenting the admission
committee of the university with some sort of proof of his progress in the study of
Greek.
Does anyone of you know what sort of thing is required before being admitted
as mature student?
Would the results of his informal (but rigorous) study be of any meaning to
an admission committee?
_______

Some schools offer the option of "testing out" of a course. He might see if
it would be possible to take an exam for advanced placement in Greek.
