Jason you are probably dealing not with a virus but with a spyware or trojan.
Download this program --> http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Update the it and then run it on your machine.
Trust the program and DELETE all it suggests.
I have used it since last September and I am very happy :)
I have also recommended it to bunch of friends some of which are sys.admins
in different companies and they have benefited greatly from it.
Let me know if the problem persist after you clean your machine with the Lava Soft

Dony

PS deleting the IE will not help because you are having a REGISTRY problem which can be only fixed through a registry cleaner like LAVASOFT and not through reinstallation of IE. Even if you uninstall IE the registry keys will be still kept by Windows and you will have the same problem.

I'm cross-posting because I'm at a loss. My computer seems to be working
fine, but I cannot use Internet Explorer. I came in contact with a virus
yesterday ("Dummy.class") that apparently killed IE. I used Norton to
quarantine it, but it cannot be repaired. When I try to open any webpage, it
get two alert screens:

"This program has performed and illegal operation and will be shut down. /
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor." and

"An error has occured in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer will now
close. / If you continue to experience problems, please restart your
computer."

Anyone have a clue? Can I get this fixed??? Help!
