I was doing the following translation exercise from Shep 98:2 NUN DE hUPO
AGGELOU BLEPEIS, DIA TOU AUTOU MEN PNEUMATOS.
I assume that Shep means Shepherd of Hermas.
I found an online version at
http://www.earlychristianwritings.com/shepherd.html
I went to check my work and to see the context but this site skipped from
chapter 97 to 99.
first I translated this as; "but now you see by an angel, because he is of a
spirit (spiritual)" For this to be correct I would have expected TON AUTON
instead of TOU AUTOU.
Now I came up with; "but now you see by an angel, through the same spirit".
It still seems like a strange sentence but I do not have any idea about the
context.
Any thoughts?

I would like to be able to help you with this, but something is rotten in the
State of Denmark. The numbering system cannot be correct (to the best of my
knowledge). You might check this at

http://www.ccel.org/l/lake/fathers/toc.htm

where I have the Apostolic Fathers in native Greek text. If you find your
passage, then we can discuss it.
